Marsha's deep expertise in the global oil and gas industry comes from being born and raised in the global oil patch. Her family has been rooted in the oil and gas industry for over seventy years, commencing when her father, Robert N. Powers, joining Standard Oil of Indiana after graduating from Oklahoma State University. She and her family were one of the first American families to live international - to help build the global oil and gas industry - starting in Caracas, Venezuela, when Standard Oil became AMOCO International Oil Company. Robert Powers' successive career moves included General Manager, Amoco Iran Oil Co, President, Amoco Holland - North Seas operations and President, AMOCO Trinidad. Marsha was born In the Permian basin - Hobbs, New Mexico and also lived in Texas and Oklahoma.
She currently lives in Cleveland, Oh to provide her GLOBAL insights and LOCAL expertise to help build the domestic unconventional oil and gas industry, with special attention to the Appalachia Marcellus and Utica Shale plays.
Her background includes successfully building and operating three start-ups and three divisions in existing companies. She founded Powers Business Advisors, Powers Financial Group and Powers Advertising & Marketing. She served as a commercial lender at KeyBank,NA and held management profit center responsibilities at both Griswold Advertising and Ketchum Communications.
She currently serves on the Government Affairs Committee of the Ohio Oil and Gas Association (OOGA.)Marsha historically, and continues to be, active in business, economic and philanthropic organizations at local and national levels.
Marsha has been engaged in the State of Ohio's economic development initiatives since 2000. She is a member of Who's Who Worldwide and has held board/committee roles with the Greater Cleveland Partnership, Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE), National Small Business Association, Leadership Council, Growth Capital Corp and the Beachwood Chamber of Commerce including it's Economic Development group.
Other affiliations have included Association of Corporate Growth, Ohio Venture Capital Association, Cleveland Council of World Affairs, The International Entrepreneurs(TIE), Cleveland Museum of Art, Convention & Visitors Bureau of Greater Cleveland, March of Dimes and Multiple Sclerosis Society.
